Join the intelligent yoga rebellion.
Our yoga practice gives us the opportunity to let go of unwanted patterns, behaviour, stories and limitations allowing us to cultivate a relationship with our inner self. One that becomes the most important relationship of all.
Julie’s Embodied style of flow and curiosity is a practice for all those who are tired of showing up to merely make shapes. Join the Intelligent Yoga Rebellion and allow yourself to find a practice that feels authentic to you and your own body.
About this workshop - The Principles Of Embodiment
Take a look under the skin as we journey through the science and application of movement and meditation from the perspective of embodiment. Now more than ever connecting to the inherent intelligence of the body and mind are at the forefront of yoga and therapeutic practices. We cannot serve our inner being from a perspective of external shapes any longer.
Where it began
Like many people, I began my asana practice in a very linear, cue-based methodology and while that served me for a period of time, I began to understand that there was so much more to the sensory experience that was rising up from within. Why wasn't this the focal point of classes instead of getting into a particular pose? So I embarked on a journey of learning the science of how the body really works and how the mind and the emotions are intertwined. Completely inseparable.
Who is this workshop for
This workshop is for any yoga practitioners that are ready for an interconnected understanding of their practice. It's not in the asana, it's in the awareness.
What to expect
We will start this workshop on Friday evening with a Masterclass (movement practice). The Friday evening masterclass will be a softer exploration/introduction to an embodied flow.
We start Saturday with an early morning masterclass that will have a more integrated theme that will continue on Sunday morning's masterclass.
In the afternoons of Saturday and Sunday, Julie will take you through the main principles of Emobidment - Proprioception, Interoception and Exteroception and why it is vital for us to approach our practice and our lives with the curiosity that lies inherent within. You'll learn about the fascial connections, the nervous system and how the brain processes information derived through movement and stillness. You'll also be able to set aside old yoga myths that have been holding you back from the wholeness that yoga can really offer you.

More about Julies Masterclasses (also open to the public outside of the full workshop)
Using awareness of sensation Julie will guide you to explore natural spirals, waves, pulses, expansion and contraction, integrated movement, breath and pause. Listening without judgement to what your body has to say, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Julie encourages students to find their own pace, fluidity and strength in a structure led through guidance. She no longer asks people to get "into" a pose, but if stillness arises then space is given for you to pause, feel and sense. Moving on only when you are ready, moving with the body not against it.
The Friday evening masterclass will be a softer exploration/introduction to an embodied flow. Saturday and Sunday will follow an integrated theme.
About Julie
Raised as a Vedantist, she grew up immersed in the philosophy of yoga. In her 20's she began to practice asana and research different ways of moving while studying the history of yoga. The resulting discovery is that yoga is EVOLVING and always has, so we have permission to explore these practices, challenge the myths, and move forward with knowledge and awareness. Her mission is to EMPOWER your practice. To help find your own pace, fluidity, and strength in a structure that is an invitation, not a rule. Tap into your curiosity and trust your experience to take charge of your practice on and off the mat. www.brahmaniyoga.com
